      IoPP Central Ohio Chapter: American Whistle Corporation Tour

      Our Central Ohio Chapter is heading to the American Whistle Corporation for a behind-the-scenes look at the only manufacturer of metal whistles in the United States. The morning begins with breakfast at Tim Hortons in Columbus (955 E Dublin Granville Road) before the group tours the factory to see raw brass transformed into finished whistles through stamping, forming, assembly, testing, packaging, and shipping operations. Attendees will also take home their own whistle souvenir! Members attend for $15 and non-members for $25, making this a fun and affordable way to connect with fellow packaging professionals while experiencing a unique piece of American manufacturing history.       IoPP Cascade Chapter: Smurfit Westrock's Longview Mill and Box Plant Tour

      Our Cascade Chapter tours Smurfit Westrock's Longview Mill and Box Plant for an inside look at paper and corrugated packaging production from start to finish. Attendees will follow the process from wood chips being transformed into pulp and paper through testing, corrugating, and final box conversion in this high-speed operation. The facility is one of the few mills in the world producing extensible paper known for its impressive stretch and puncture resistance, making this a valuable experience for packaging professionals interested in materials, manufacturing, and corrugated packaging operations.

      IoPP Minnesota Chapter: BW Packaging Tour

      Our Minnesota Chapter visits BW Packaging in Brooklyn Park on June 18 for an inside look at one of North America’s leading manufacturers of bag filling and palletizing systems. BW Packaging’s facility is home to manufacturing and engineering operations focused on specialty bag filling equipment. Their systems handle products such as sugar, rice, seed, salt, kitty litter, and pet food, while supporting weighing, filling, sealing, inspection, palletizing, and wrapping operations for a wide variety of bag types used across today’s packaging market. The afternoon begins with arrival and sign-in at 3:30 PM, followed by a welcome and guided facility tour. Afterward, attendees can continue the conversation over pizza and soda onsite with fellow packaging professionals. Members and students can attend free, while non-members and guests pay just $10, making this an easy opportunity to connect with fellow packaging professionals and see large-scale packaging machinery in action.
