  • John Bitner

IoPP is saddened to share the news of John Bitner's passing. John was a member for over 30 years and very involved in IoPP's leadership for many years. IoPP and the packaging industry will dearly miss John.

A link to the obituary is below.

John's wife, Deb, has requested a  virtual “Zoom Irish Wake” for John on Friday, May 29th, starting at 5:00 pm Eastern. The format will be people telling the story of how they met John and then share one story of working with him. After that it will hopefully become a truly virtual Irish wake.

  • PMMI's Packaging & Processing Hall of Fame

Every two years PMMI’s Packaging & Processing Hall of Fame commission convenes to choose industry professionals for induction into the Hall of Fame. This fall, PMMI will recognize the Class of 2020. You’re invited to nominate a leader from your company or community.

Inductees are chosen based on their industry dedication, demonstrated by expanding industry knowledge, volunteer leadership or contributions that have advanced packaging and processing. The Hall of Fame is the highest honor our industry bestows on packaging and processing professionals.

Take some time to identify a leader and submit his or her name for consideration; there is no cost to do so, and our form will guide you easily through the process.

  • Fox Valley Chapter & Wisconsin Chapter Merger

An announcement from Gary Konop, Chair of the Wisconsin Chapter, and Mike Scheel, Chair of the Fox Valley Chapter

IoPP Members of Fox Valley & Wisconsin Chapters,

It’s Spring, change is in the air and we have big news for you! We are excited to let you know that we are in the process of re-energizing IoPP’s presence in Wisconsin. With that in mind, we are announcing the merger of the Fox Valley and Wisconsin Chapters into a combined and stronger organization effective June 1, 2020. This merger will provide members of both chapters the opportunity to participate with a broader and more diverse network of packaging professionals.

Our combined group will be called the Wisconsin Chapter and will include members from all of Wisconsin. Meeting planning will take the broad geographical area into consideration and future meeting locations and content will reflect the entire region. All members will be included in chapter communications to provide better opportunities to engage with a larger and more diverse network of packaging professionals.

Hopefully you have heard about, and are familiar with, PackChat – IoPP’s newest community focused communication tool. If not, please check it out! NOTE: You must be a member in good standing to access PackChat.

PackChat is IoPP’s tool to keep you informed, including news and updates from national as well as an event calendar for local IoPP chapters, which will include our re-energized Wisconsin Chapter! You will all be part of the Wisconsin Chapter Community – no need to make any changes on your end as this will happen automatically. PackChat is where we will communicate chapter news and keep everyone connected between events.

Also, make sure you’re following IoPP on Linked In to join the community of 16,650+ packaging professionals connected by this app.

We’re looking forward a bright future for IoPP (and the packaging community!) in Wisconsin.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact either of us.
