We're exploring how to add a Recyclable with mobius symbol or Recycle Ready logo to our flexible medical device packaging (PE + Tyvek) to encourage hospital recycling where collection programs exist. Since primary and secondary packaging are typically separated in hospital settings, the logo could appear on either the Tyvek pouch or the secondary carton. We're also considering a note directing users to the IFU, eIFU, or a QR code for disposal guidance. The material would likely require advanced recycling, not mechanical, to avoid issues at material recovery facilities (MRFs). Our goal is to ensure the claim aligns with SB 343, the EU Green Claims Directive, and other global regulations.
Given these considerations, what would be the most effective and compliant approach to implementing environmental marketing claims on medical device packaging distributed globally? Would these pouches have to go to an advanced recycling stream only?
