Hello,
PTFE (aka Teflon) is a PFAS material present in trace amounts of some commonly used folding carton varnishes. With the movement to remove PFAS materials from packaging some varnish manufacturers have removed PTFE from their formulations. The original amounts of PTFE were so low that their removal is unlikely to affect carton performance. But I am in search of data to back that theory up.
In addition to any supplier sponsored testing, or internal testing, I am looking for other studies that can substantiate my performance theories, particularly no effect on label adhesion. Does anyone know of any white papers or published studies that deal with PTFE removal from varnishes? Thank you in advance for any info you can share
