    Dear MDPTC members,

Does any member have insights on the following questions on sea freight?

    1. Does your company use sea freight for transporting/distributing medical devices and/or combination products (e.g., drug product in pre-filled syringes)?
    2. If yes, how does your company rationalize sea freight in your packaging testing (e.g., mechanical shipping qualification) and/or device functionality testing (e.g., PFS CCI), specifically from physical/environmental hazards perspective?
      1. Technical rationale
      2. Lab-based simulation to replicate sea freight (please share "how" if this is your approach).
      3. Real-life shipping incorporated with sea freight
      4. Others

Please note the scope of the question does NOT include thermal shipping qualification.

    Best regards,

    Li

    Did you get an answer?

There were multiple talks and papers on ocean cargo shipment by or from ISTA.

ISO 4180 Packaging - Complete, filled transport packages - General rules for the compilation of performance test schedules includes references to ocean cargo shipping.
