  • 1.  Procedures for approval of multiwall paper bags with bag plastic inner

    Posted 08-07-2024 12:09 PM

    Hi everyone !

I'm new here. I work in a multi-wall paper bag factory that produces a valved paper bag with a plastic bag inner. The bag is ideal for clean room environments, as the paper bag can be completely separated from the plastic bag.

I need to certify this packaging for transporting dangerous products, but there is no standard that contemplates the association of paper and plastic. It is two layers of 50# (80 gsm) paper with a plastic bag that is 3.0 mils (75 microns) thick per wall.

    Thanks for the help !

    Hello Gustavo,

    Check 'Rule 40' .

"Rule 40" is a set of rules and regulations promulgated by The National Railway Freight Committee, under the Uniform Freight Classification 6000-L effective from April 1, 2001.

Although Rule 40 is specific to rail transport, it is the basis for trucking (National Motor Freight) and as a general contract specification for many types of bagged products. Rule 40 determines the minimum construction standards for a paper bag being transported in the US and Canada. It set standards for minimum number of plies, basis weight of the paper, tensile energy absorption (TEA) and tear strength for a bag

This would be a UN 5M2/... specification.
