Hi John & Jim,
There has been a new requirement for Saudi Arabia that has led me on a search for oxo-degradable stretchwrap. In case you are interested, Crown Packaging has identified a supplier of oxo-degradable stretchwrap. We are only in the stage of trialing it on equipment and testing it out in storage, but so far, I'd say it has been successful.
Hope this helps!

Subject: Alternatives to stretch wrap for pallets
Hi John.
Cannot see any alternative coming soon for stretchwrap.
Best way forward I can see is banning non-stretched film – I do a lot of cut and weighs on pallets trying to convince customers to reduce the amount of film used - it never ceases to amaze me how much film is wasted by countless companies.
By using powered prestretch wrapping machines instead of cheaper brake operated film delivery systems the savings are enormous – usually at least 2/3rds less per pallet.
If we where serious about film wastage this should almost be mandantory.
Hopefully the next big innovation will be biodegradable film – it seems to be coming into the market a bit now – but not fast enough..

Does anyone have recommendations or experience with using alternatives for traditional stretch wrapping of pallets? Question comes from a desire to reduce single use plastics.
