As I help my company plan for eliminating plastic from our packaging (films and thermoforms primarily), I am wondering what (newer) plastic-free packaging materials and technologies others have had the most success with, especially considering cost and ability to mass manufacture at speed? I want to discover and research as many options as possible early on.

Veronica, it would help to know what kind of products that you are packaging.  Could you provide that information?

    Thanks,

John,  presumably card and possibly board games, as Wizards of the Coast makes Magic the Gathering and other games.

    Hello Veronica,

If you are looking for thermoformed sustainable packaging, molded pulp is used but the volumes and the variety of shapes does determine if you can choose this option becase of the tool cost.

Some cosmetic brands did introduce it for some promotional packs and this packaging could be also found for some electronical devices packaging.

Regarding the removal of plastic films, I agree with John Chomistek: it would help to know which products and applications are under consideration. If you are looking for flexible packaging materials with barrier properties or any other.

    Thank you.

    Kind regards,

Exploring Bio Plastics would be a great option for starting the journey of eliminating plastic from your products.  Not sure a 100% plastic free technology available at this time.  Hope this helps.
