Tom, no I am not trying to change the box. The issue is that most case packers I see take the finished case out a horizontal conveyor. Ours goes straight up. Because the line was basically built around this, I have no room to go out, must go up, lest we need to make major changes to the line.
Thanks,
Laura

Laura,
If you are trying to get rid of the wrap around case configuration, unfortunately you will have to buy three new pieces of equipment: A case erector, a case packer, and a final taper (besides conveyors and such). It sounds like you are packaging steel cans. IMO the wrap around case can be the best option since your product most likely can fully support any load it sees. It might make sense to just upgrade the machine. In my most recent position we still utilized a very old cold glue wrap around machine for sturdy tubs of hand cleaner. That being said, we also replaced several outdated RSC case erectors with Combi machines with great success. Some of their machines have size limitations so if you plan to pack different container sizes on the same line, make sure it can go as small or as large as you need. While we had a couple drop packers still in use, we configured several robotic pick and place packers for better product handling.

Good morning. I'm not sure I am using the term "vertical" correctly here. We are looking to replace an ancient wrap around case packer (Park Place). I need some guidance as to who might make this type of equipment or at least the proper name. The flat box comes into the machine, cans are pushed onto it, the case is "wrapped" then it is taken straight up a belt conveyance system along the way being glued and held while it sets. The case is then pushed onto a horizontal conveyor on the upper level where it goes on to it's next steps.
Thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks,
Laura
